Long time gone

I used to be a very active member on this board.

Use to be...

Life has a way of mucking with your plans.

So an update.

Since 2011. I have added 3 grandchildren.  Moved twice, bought a house in the stix.  Stated,  ran  and closed a small business. Nearly lost my wife to an illness (she is fully recovered)  Built a wood shop.  Raised a bunch of chickens gained some weight.  Lost a lot of weight.

And stopped baking!

I went from not buying anything baked to not baking anything.

So about a year ago the oldest grand kid said he wanted pizza for dinner.  No frozen pies in the house I guess I'll make it from scratch.  Only yeast in the house is 5 years past date so that's out.  Found a recipe for a no- yeast crust online. The end result is that we now do pizza on Friday nights.  I'm using reinharts crust recipe.  The grandbabies get a crust that they can pile on the toppings of their choice.

And I get to bake.

For the first time in 5 years I'm making Christmas cookies for the neighbors.  (Again)  there is a gingerbread house and I'm baking the rolls for Christmas dinner.

Is a long way from where I was 6 years ago but it's a start...

Welcome back! I've also been on an absence, though mine was more due to not blogging than not baking. I'm enjoying getting back into again.

Indeed the baking ebbs and flows with other commitments and activities.

I baked Christmas cookies and am distributing them to my neighbours as well. Most came out good but one of the batches came out so-so, and last night after giving out quite a few I woke up stressing out about what people will think of me and my baking and whether I should have held those back. But I didn't, and the one neighbour who I spoke to this morning said she enjoyed them all, so I guess I should just relax.

Thank goodness for grandkids! Sometimes they bring us back to ourselves.

It is amazing how much gets thrown at us but we still keep going. Maybe that is the baker in us telling us-"just wait, it will rise and then be fantastic".

Have delicious fun! Life is sweet.
